Does It Matter? - POQ Challenge #10
I don't believe that
abortion is OK.
I think there are other
options to choose.
I think that gay marriage
is biblically wrong-
but I will not judge.
What you do is not
my point to bring hatred.
I will leave you be,
if you leave me be.
I am friends with you
no matter what.
Yes, my opinions
are not politically correct.
I am sorry if they offend you-
but I will not take them back.
It saddens me that people must
compromise their morals
for the wishes, and offences, of others.
I just won't do it.
But don't think that
I will push you away if
you love someone who
is of the same sex.
I don't care who you are;
my God teaches love.
I will receive you with open
arms, to celebrate and cry
together as a family.
Muslim, Hindu, atheist-
Lesbian, Gay, straight:
Does it really matter
when kindness is concerned?
Political values should not separate
two people in friendship.
Does that matter,
when we all push through life together?

It was tough to write this one. I know I will be flamed for the political and moral ideas that I possess- but I honestly do not care. I know so many sacrifice their values to make others happy. That is just not right.
I am politically conservative. I don't believe (personally) in gay marriage. I don't think abortion is OK- in ANY situation. I think gun ownership is a good thing. I believe (when it TRULY appropriate) in capital punishment.
BUT...
That is NOT the point of this poem.
The point of this poem is that it doesn't matter what your political beliefs are: if you are nice, you should be able to be friends with someone who disagrees with your political views.
Heck, my Best Friend (Who I mentioned in: "The Friend that Never Left") is a Muslim, and we are closer than sisters.
We don't care about our differences because our friendship is more important than that.
So why should it matter to you?

Yaay!! I have found a person who agrees with me!!! 
I find it really annoying (sometimes even disappointing) that when people state their opinion (or even who they truly are), which just so happens to be different, that they get "shot down" for it.
I had that a lot in school especially, but I didn't care to be honest. I just thought: this is my opinion, if you like it, good, if not then suit yourself.
