I Wanted to be Like an Adult

I'm not like an adult,
so they said,
so I
drank until I was
drunk.
-Itas and shots
and
coolers,
and
I lost
myself in
each.

(And will I lie?
It was fun!
I found
a bit of freedom.
A way to forget
the insult to injury.)

And then
I woke up the
next morning
with my head
splitting
and
thoughts
whisp'ring:
"Why did I do it?"

The guilt won't leave me
along
with the
need
to
r e p e a t.
**Note: I will explain this and "Life Drunk" in a non-ficton story (creative) later. These are some poems just to get things off my chest.**

In short, yes, I have drank. Yes, I am under 21. Please don't judge me. We all have different lives to lead, and it's not like I get spitting drunk every time. That was one time. Different places around the world have different ages to drink (and, if you ask me, the drinking age should be lowered to 18, since people here go off to war, and are allowed to vote and smoke at that age in most states anyways.)

We all have things we regret doing, so try not to be too upset about it, because it happens to the best of us. The most important thing is that we learn from those regrets, right? :huggle:
